FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Need to Know
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU HANDLE AT ONCE?
I have handled as many as 11 dogs in a pack. However my preferred pack size is between 6-8 dogs. For wedding services, all my packages include up to two dogs, with additional fees for 3 or more dogs. I have handled 3 dogs at a wedding before (2 newfies, and a Bernese Mountain Dog).
ARE YOU COMFORTABLE HANDLING REACTIVE DOGS?
Absolutely. Several of the dogs that are in my packs have experienced reactivity to some extent. Some have shown leash reactivity, dog reactivity, etc. Many of these dogs we have worked through these issues and they are now much less reactive, especially with their pack. Depending on how reactive the dog is and their triggers they may be required to wear a muzzle until they become comfortable with the environment for everyones safety.
For weddings, I typically recommend the Bronze Package for reactive dogs so that way we can manage to get some photos with them but keep them away from any large crowds, if that is a trigger for them.
WHAT IS YOUR WEATHER POLICY?
Since your wedding is still planned to move forward no matter the weather, I will be there too! I always take special considerations for the weather and make sure to pack extra towels and wipes in case of wet or muddy conditions. I also always pack extra water, cooling towels, and a fan for really hot days. I will always account for extra travel time due to weather, and possible traffic. No matter the weather, I am prepared to celebrate with you and your fur-baby!
HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU BOOK PER DAY? AND WHAT DO YOU DO AT THE WEDDING?
I only book one wedding per day. That way my entire day is focused on you and your dog and I am not rushed worrying about getting to another venue on time.
As a pet wedding chaperone, I am solely focused on your dog(s) at the wedding. I always take them for a walk or hike before the wedding (depending if trails are available near by, otherwise we will do a neighbourhood walk) to make sure they are tired. I give them a quick brush and wipe down and get them ready for the wedding. We always arrive early to give them time to sniff around the venue and get familiar. During photos I will help the photographer get the attention of your dog(s) and if they are included in the ceremony I am always close by to supervise that incase they need to be handed off.
DO YOU HAVE EMPLOYEES?
Many of my regular walk clients know my mom, Karen, she often will join me on the morning hike and help out with drop in visits and the occasional wedding service. She is listed on my insurance as a part time employee so she is fully covered to help handle the dogs.
IF MY DOG STAYS WITH YOU OVERNIGHT AS PART OF THE WEDDING PACKAGE, WILL ERNEST BE THERE?
If your dog is good with other dogs, then he may be here and help tire them out and provide cuddles and a play buddy. BUT, if your dog is nervous or reactive with other dogs, don't worry, Ernest loves spending time with his Glamma and is happy to go for a sleepover at her house. My priority is to make sure your dog feels safe and comfortable while they are in my care.
My cat Marlin will be here, but if your dog is not good with cats Marlin can stay locked in his room for the night.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
I always recommend as soon as possible. If you know the date you are getting married and have secured your venue, than book your pet wedding chaperone! Dates fill up super fast, and I always hate having to turn away last minute bookings!
DO YOU HAVE TO MEET MY DOG FIRST?
For wedding services an in person meet and greet is ideal but isn't always feasible due to location, so in that case a virtual meet and greet would also be an option.
I will also always do a phone call with you a couple days before the wedding, to go over final schedules etc.
